With so few options around for 1930's composite fornt doors, we're looking to bring greater choice to those that are looking to upgrade their period properties with an up to date composite door.

Not only are we expanding the range of 30's doors on offer, but introducing new decorative stained glass inspired glass designs from the 1930's.

1930's Door designs


Where all 1930's composite designs we have on offer may not be exact matches to the door designs of this period, some are inspired from the aesthetic of the time. We also take inspiration from the glass designs of the time by using modern lead and film techniques to re-create the beautiful stained glass leaded designs of the day.

Where the range of 30's front doors are not extensive, we are listing the composite styles we have on offer so we can explore them in more detail. The doors we will cover are as follows:

The London Composite Door

 

Style - London

Colour - Dep Saxe Blue

Glass - Oasis

Hardware - Pewter

The London door design is typical of one of the popular styles at the time with that glazing being set quite high in the door. Complemented with lower panels, this gave the door a truly stand out look.

The lead and film design is easily applied the inside and outside of the outer panel of the double glazed unit which is also toughened glass. This allows the door to comply with up-to-date regulations of safety and efficiency.

The Knightsbridge Composite Door

 

Style - Knightsbridge

Colour - Oxslip

Glass - Jazz

Hardware - Chrome

Similar in proportion to the London Door, the door features a square to glass section with two lower moulded panels. With all the colours available, you can really make the door stand out as shown here in this example of a Knightsbridge door.

The Cleveland Composite Door

 

Style - Cleveland

Colour - Fern Green

Glass - Obscured

Hardware - Antique Black

Featuring the largest of the glazed apertures, the Cleveland door is unique in its design and is a favourite as a back door, as much as it is a great choice and popular as a front door.

With all its glazing options, this door is popular with clear glass as a back door, or a simple plain obscured glass as a front door, with the most popular glass being Pilkington Minster Glass.

Note: As most home have white windows, choosing a white frame not only sets off the colour of the door well, but also ties in with the windows of the house.

Chelsea Composite Door

Colour - Tomato Red

Glass - Edge

Hardware - Pewter

To add to the unique look of the door, displayed is the hardware in a pewter finish with the monkey tail door handle. This also demonstrates the flexibility and options on offer to take what is in effect a 1930's door and add a modern twist.

The colour and hardware combination demonstrates the flexibility of options available as the door can be customised to almost limitless combinations.

Showing an Anthracite Grey frame to match the door, this is a prime example of a Mayfair 1930's composite door that would be suited to most period homes of the day. Showing the option of the coloured door frame gives a better idea of how this combination really works.

The Thames Composite Door

Colour - Chartwell Green

Glass - Clear

Hardware - Graphite

The Thames composite front door has to be one of the most iconic styles of the 1930s. With its upper glazing and triple lower moulded panel. This front door would suit all period properties of the 1930s.

Shown in a traditional Chartwell Green, this front door can be customised to any colour from the Ral colour system. Farrow & Ball colours are also available on this composite door.

The Brompton Composite Door

 

Style - Brompton

Colour - Olive

Glass - Obscured

Hardware - Graphite

Like the Thames front door, the Brompton door has the added detail of a Dentil Shelf. The dentil shelf serves no real purpose and only adds to the aesthetic of the front door.

Until now, dentil shelves have only been found on wooden front doors, but have now been introduced to composite front doors which help give that authentic 1930s look.

Note: The meaning of the word Dentil is a Greek meaning and signifies equal spacing of smae sized blocks or Dentils.
