Composite & UPVC Door Handles

Hand reaching for door handle

Not just an accessory, the handle is the most engaged part of any front or back door, which is why choosing one that’s right for you is almost as important as the door itself.

Various door handles
Choosing a handle can affect not only the look, but also the functionality, of a new door

What are the composite & UPVC door handles that you offer?

The traditional lever is by far the most popular choice, with the Balmoral our standard option for composites and a superior upgrade for UPVCs. Other types of handle are available for select door styles.

Lever Handles

The traditional option for opening and operating a front or back door. There are a few designs to choose from.

Standard (UPVC only)

Our basic option for UPVC doors, available by default.

Superior range (for composite & UPVC)

These are default for composites and upgrades for UPVCs.

  • Balmoral

The basic lever style for composite doors. Available with lever/lever or split spindle configuration. A similar style exists for Rock Doors as "Lever Lever Rock Door" handles.

  • Swan

An elegant swept design perfect for classical door styles. Only available in lever/lever configuration.

  • Lever Pad

Designed for easy access, the internal side consists of a round large pad, while the outer design is a Balmoral. Only available as a split spindle configuration. A similar design is available for Rock Doors.

Similar in shape to the Balmoral, the Nuki can be operated in a variety of ways, with the Smart Lock on the inside. Batteries/charging required.

What are the differences in their functionality?

Different handles haved different methods of locking, so it's important to know how you intend to lock your door for everyday use.

Lever-Lever

A manual locking method. This requires the handle to be pulled up to engage the locking mechanism, and a key to lock the door.

Split Spindle

An automatic locking method. Closing the door locks it,without the use of a key. However, to fully engage the locking mechanism, the handle must be lifted and the key used.

Slam Lock

An automatic locking method. Specifically for handles that don't 'turn', e.g. bar and heritage. As with split spindle, closing the door automatically locks it.

Smart Handle

One which uses smart technology, i.e. controlled by an app. Specific functions, such as perimeter sensing and remote access, can be employed to lock or unlock the door. The Nuki handle also permits the manual use of a key.

Ornamental

Mostly decorative and no available by itself. It can still be used to help with opening a door with heritage lock.

How should I care for my handles?

Handles are meant for everyday use, and with proper care they'll continue to serve your door, both aesthtically and in function.

Before you clean

Remove jewellery such as rings or bracelets, as these could scratch the surface with repeated contact.

Warm water is all you need to clean

All it takes is a clean cloth and some warm water to restore shine to your new handles.

Oil moving parts

Use a little engineering oil on moving parts. This is especially important if you live near the coast or industrial site, where hardware is exposed to abrasive elements.

Ensure that locks properly engage

For lever types, lift up the handle to make sure that the top and bottom points of the locking mechanism engage correctly.

Make sure your Nuki is charged and calibrate if needed

For the Nuki handle, ensure that there is sufficient charge, and that any charge ports are free of debris. While the Nuki will auto-calibrate on initial set-up, you may wish to recalibrate it.
