Composite door colours

Since their appearance on the UK market in 1996, composite external doors have not only offered a more secure alternative to timber, but also a range of colours that revolutionised the door market – with options only growing over time.
What are the benefits of having a coloured composite door compared to painting a wooden one?
Composites easily replace external timber doors in many ways, and colour is no exception!
Composites never need repainting
You won’t need to paint your lovely new composite front or back door, as it has a durable GRP (glass reinforced plastic) skin that won’t peel away as paint can on wood.
They are easy to clean
You need very little to keep your composite clean, and so won’t run the risk of ruining the finish as would be possible with painted timber.
PLEASE NOTE that using abrasive cleaning products and solvent based chemicals (including washing-up liquid) is not necessary – and NOT recommended!
They’re weather resistant
Our composite external doors are perfect all year round, repelling rain and being UV resistant (resisting fading from exposure to sunlight). Paint on the other hand can crack and peel when exposed to weather, leaving a wooden door to look unseemly.
Touching-up is simple
If your composite should ever chip, it’s a simple job for a touch-up pen or touch-up paint to tidy this up.

Let’s not forget hardware finishes
Add flair to the door design with hardware in matching finishes, which include – polished Chrome and Gold, solid White and Black, brushed Graphite Silver, pitted Antique Black, and Stainless Steel. These are available for handles, knockers, spyholes and letterplates.
Can I colour-match surrounds to the door?
Yes, the frame and finishing trim can be matched to the door’s finish, and because we use RAL paint codes you can easily paint windows and areas surrounding the doorway to match.
Frames come in the same range of colours
Frames are white by default, but can be colour-matched to the door, or even made to a different finish entirely.
New top lights and side panels make matching easier
Replacing a top light or side panels ensures that the same profile is used as that of the door's frame, thus keeping everything uniform in appearance.
We use RAL colour codes
Because our composites come in RAL colours, a diverse and well-recognised range, it is easy to find the right paint for windows or other surrounding elements that can match your door, and we’ll be happy to supply the necessary RAL code to you.

What colours are most popular?
While it is a matter of personal choice, some colours in particular are crowd-pleasers.
Chartwell Green is an all-round fave
One of the most popular colours for any of our styles, this is a pastel green that provides a calming feel for your doorway.
Anthracite Grey for modern designs
Formal but not overpowering, anthracite grey is the perfect choice for sleek, contemporary door styles.
Woodgrains for a more organic look
You can’t go wrong with a dark Rosewood or a mid-tone Oak for that unpainted wooden look, which proves more reliable than a typical wooden door.
White for the inside
While the option exists for colours to be included for the inside of the door, most customers are happy to leave this as White, so as to allow for a lighter looking hallway indoors.
Blue adds value to your home
Believe it or not, a blue door can add value to your property, by as much as £4k according to market research. In particular, navy blue has a track record of attracting potential buyers.
Can I have my door in a specific colour?
While our selection of finishes is extensive, we understand that you may have a specific colour in mind. Simply put, if it is available within the RAL range, we can have your door or frame made to a bespoke finish.

From Night Blue to Luminous Yellow
Whether you envision a door in a sandy RAL 2007, a mossy RAL 6039 or a gentle RAL 5018, we can make this happen. This bespoke finish will have the same resilience and weather-proofing as our existing selection of colours.
No need to paint it
Because we provide a bespoke colour service, there’s no need for you to paint your composite, ensuring a surface that’s still easy to clean and weather resistant.
